The Most Balanced Baby Names: Names That Score High on Every Personality Dimension
One of the most common questions from parents using perception research is whether a name can score well across the board, without sacrificing one trait for another. The answer is yes, but it is rare.
What 'Balanced' Means in the Research
In the Mehrabian dataset of 1,700+ names, a balanced name is one that scores 60 or above on all five perception dimensions: Success, Warmth, Morality, Health, and Cheerfulness. Only 38 names in the entire dataset meet this threshold. That is just over 2% of all names studied.
A score of 60 on any dimension is above average (the overall average is approximately 50 for each). These names do not necessarily peak on any single dimension, but they maintain a consistently strong impression across all five. They have no blind spots.

What These Names Have in Common
Balanced names tend to be familiar without being generic. They have enough cultural history to carry positive associations across multiple dimensions simultaneously. Many are classical names (James, Peter, Katherine, Julia) or mainstream names from the mid to late 20th century (Kevin, Kimberly, Steven, Jenny).
The list does not include any highly unusual or trendy names. Balance, in this dataset, favors names that have stood the test of time.
How to Use This List
A balanced name is a strong starting point, but not the only valid strategy. If you value one dimension strongly above the others, filtering by that dimension on the statistics pages will surface names with higher peaks. The 38 balanced names represent the best all-around options in the dataset, the names with no perceptual weakness.
